Waterslide Designers Charged With MURDER After Boy’s Decapitation!

You may recall in August of 2016 one of the most horrifying things we’ve ever reported. Now we may finally see some justice.

A 10-year-old boy named Caleb Schwab (above) was decapitated while riding the Verrückt waterslide at Kansas City’s Schlitterbahn Water Park.

Scott and Michele Schwab reached a settlement with the park in a wrongful death lawsuit, but now the owners and designers are facing serious criminal charges.

Last Friday, former Schlitterbahn director Tyler Austin Miles was indicted on involuntary manslaughter charges. He pleaded not guilty.

But some of his colleagues are now facing worse.

In another indictment unsealed on Tuesday, slide designers John Timothy Schooley and Jeffrey Wayne Henry (a park co-owner who “possesses no technical or engineering credentials”) were charged with reckless second degree murder. Henry & Sons Construction Company, Inc. was also named in the indictment, which alleges:

“In place of mathematical and physics calculations, they rushed forward relying almost entirely on crude trial-and-error methods.”

Before Caleb’s tragic ride there apparently numerous other serious injuries kept from the public.

Local news station KCTV5 got their hands on a list:

Verruckt opened July 2014–you can see here the documented injuries from today’s Schlitterbahn indictment. Coming up on @KCTV5 at 5, I’ll have more details about the case against the corporation and their former Director of Operations. pic.twitter.com/NSI0isYNxc

Wow. And they still let children ride…

The indictment also says there is footage of the incident, and that it proves Caleb followed all rider instructions. There were two adult women riding with him; they also suffered injuries.

Sounds like these charges are justified.

As of this writing, Henry has been arrested, but Schooley is not yet in custody.
